Dance of the Black Shadow

A Poem of Mystery and Intrigue

The Black Shadow is catching up

With me!

No matter how fast I run!

I feel, at times,

It is the Wolf.

I am the lamb.

At times, I feel

It is a weird bird,

Slowly spreading

Its huge wings on me,

Wrapping up my body and soul

Which freeze

Under their cold feet!

I think of you.

I cry:

Set me free! Set me free!

Then I feel some warmth,

And see some light.

It is gone…

But I know

It will come back!

And someday

The black shadow of indifference

Will spread on me!

I will struggle

With the queer feeling

Of being swallowed...
